One day at a time.

Week one down and in the books. If you're new here, I started a chemo pill this week. If you've been on this journey with me, I want to reiterate, I started a chemo pill this week. I say this twice because, well, it's kind of a big life event that's happening for me right now. Not only did I start my chemo pill, but like most of my friends, we started homeschooling our kids, we've upped our social distancing game even more and we've become trapped inside our houses with our families, given no choice. Of course, that doesn't all have to be negative, but let's be honest, there's really been a lot happening all at once! As most people are adjusting to their new norms, I find myself just living one day at a time. That's really been my motto since day 3 of this whole cancer thing. I make a choice each day to just focus on the present. Totally outside of who I am as an Enneagram type 6 but hey, I'm a work in progress. I'm saying all this to mostly point out that with the current world we're living in, we are being forced to live day by day, hour by hour and I think that's ok! It's a constant choice to see the bright side of things. Instead of viewing your homeschooling situation as a pain in your butt that you weren't trained to do, consider it to be an opportunity to pour into your kiddo. Instead of viewing it as being forced to stay at home, consider it a time to slow down and actually finish the things you started. And finally, instead of viewing your current reality as negative, spend time asking God what He wants you to seek and find during this season. There has to be something good that comes out of this all. Maybe it will be that you create new memories with your kids. Maybe you'll actually get to spend time reading your Bible or listening to worship music. Hey! Hey! Maybe you won't be infected with COVID-19 (insert shoulder shrug). I just hope that wherever you find yourself in this scenario that you take it one day at a time. Show grace to those around you. And remember, I am telling myself these things daily because I know I'm not alone and we're in this together.
